Jonathan Fisher, PhD Lab Director
Jonathan earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. He then performed postdoctoral work at The Rockefeller University with A. J. Hudspeth in the Laboratory of Sensory Neuroscience. His scientific work focuses on neurotechnology and sensory neuroscience. He is the recipient of several awards and grants, including the Blavatnik Award for Young Scientists, an FDA / Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) Director’s Special Citation Award, the Optical Society of America’s New Focus/Bookham Award, and a Bristol-Myers Squibb Postdoctoral Fellowship in Basic Neurosciences. His scientific publications have appeared in top journals in the field, and he serves as a reviewer for numerous journals in the fields of medical physics, optics, and neuroscience. He has been an assistant professor in neurophysiology at New York Medical College since 2014 and is a visiting scientist at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH).
An active proponent of STEM outreach,His current role as the founder and director of the project, Neurodome, has allowed him to leverage his background in neuroimaging and the arts to create visualization products that bring cutting edge concepts in neuroscience and brain health to the public.
A pianist by training, Jonathan is particularly interested in the interface between art and technology. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2007, and has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe (bio).
